Qinetiq Tank Testing Facility

Visited July 2007 with Zero

This was once a top secret test facility putting new tanks through thier paces to find their limitations or to try out new technology.
Desperate to prevent the Russians finding out about the facility anyone visiting the site were made to sign against ever mentioning the place.


The site was owned by DERA the MOD's reserach arm. Now used for track days to tv programmes or individuals wishing to try out their cars, or by QinetiQ, another government research department across the road also use the test track.

There is the main test track 3km long, an offroad dirt track and the tank hills which are very steep.
