Visited December 2006 with The Riddlers, Zero and BenWRX
This was a live site which needed super skill to infiltrate. The station was being converted into the new St Pancras Internaional for Eurostar. The platform areas were being worked on 24 hours aday, but the station area, which was origianlly the Midland Grand Hotel, was only being worked on during the day.
So this was a night time visit. First visited with Zero, we were only inside for 2 minutes when were stopped by a worker, a quick blag and he was fine and we carried on exploring.
We were trying to make our way to the main staircase and eventually to the roof.
All the temporary lights were on, which made things easier. The contractors appeared to stripping away the old styling, although some decoration had been clearly labeled to be kept, probably as it is a listed building, but it did show the years of different wallpapers and styles.
We found the ornate grand staircase, which was sealed off by wooden boarding to protect it, but it was still accessible. It was a very impressive staircase.
We carried on making our way up toward the roof, through the many corridors trying to explore each room aswell.
We eventually found a small spiral staircase which took us in the clock tower. You could also walk around the outside of the clock on a small blacony.
We then looked for access to the other tower which was taller and had a small flat roof which you could stand on.
After climbing up 3 of the highest , oldest ladders ever, through huge roofing joists we got to the top.
Although it was pitch black and 4 in the morning, you could still appreciate the view of London.
As time was getting on, and shift change was due soon for the workers which would have made it extremely hard to get back out, we made our way down the way we came.
