Severalls Asylum, Colchester

A trip was organised to get some final pictures of Severalls Asylum as demolition is due to start soon.
This was my first visit to Severalls but others in the group had been many times before.
The buildings were all stripped of any signs of hospital activity just the walls and ceilings remained and the flaking paint found in all asylums.
Nevertheless, a climb to the top of the water tower to get some aerial
shots looking over the asylum complex were needed.
Then into admin clock tower to get pictures of the clock faces.
A slow walk round the rest of the hospital taking in the wards,
kitchens, laundry and mortuary, and it was time to leave.
Maybe Severalls may still be there in years to come but its best to
take the chance and photograph it now.
