High Royds in Menston Yorkshire first opened in 1888 and was first called 'West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum' before changing to 'High Royds' in 1963.
During its peak it held upto 3000 patients and was a completely self sufficient community.
Since its closure in 2003 the hospital has been used as a filming location for Hearbeat, The Royal aswell as the film Asylum.
High Royds is currently being redeveloped into housing. The striking admin and tower at the front of the hospital will be saved and converted, with the corridors, wards and other buildings will be demolished to make way for 500 homes.
