In heart of London City is the financial district where thousand of investors, bankers and insurances dabble in millions of pounds everyday. Built in 1968 it became a grade II listed building , although this hasnt stopped The Royal Bank of Scotland are demolishing the site for a new office. Demolishion has now already begun(Jan 07) and the tower is over half way down.
The Visit - Walking through the narrow backstreets from Bank underground we made our way to Drapers, after a quick recce of the surroundings and trying not to draw attention to ourselves, remembering this is London and there are people everywhere, we slippped under the hoarding surrounding the site.
Now comes the hard part climbing up 36 flights of stairs.
This wasnt the very top floor but a a few floors down, that contained all the plant machinery but more important had a balcony outside that went round the entire building allowing clear views and photographs of the rest of london.
After taking in the stunning views and plenty of pictures we made the slow walk back down all those stairs and back to the main streets where the group split and we made our way home.
