Visited October 2010 with Markr and Flat4
Thanks to Crawley Borough Council for allowing this trip. Built in 1957 to be used for emergency planning in the Crawley area and is still in use today for emergencys.
The bunker was built with nuclear protection but would not have survived had a bomb fell nearby. Walking through the huge blast door, is the decontamination room with showers. The bunker also has a back up generator and air filtration.
