Visited October 2007 with Rookinella
It was back in early 2005 when i first started to visit Cane Hill, back then i had little experience of exploring and didnt have a digital camera to record my explores. It was not long after a big fire that i visited and security was increased and there were only a few ways in and out of the hospital. Cane Hill was a brilliant explore, so much left intact yet so much natural decay, some parts were like they had been frozen from when the hospital had closed, other parts wrecked by vandals and decay. It was great, until on one visit we were caught leaving by security. Although the security guard knew we werent there to vandalise things, the thought of having a security dog bite my arm, meant i didnt return to Cane Hill until now. Two and a half years later, i returned to find it exactly as it was.
Walking throughout the corridors and wards, you see beds still made, patients clothes and shoes still in wardrobes by the beds, hospital records, medicine bottles, wheelchairs, dentists equipment, just left as it was when the hospital closed just before christmas 1991.
I returned many times after this with various people, exploring as much as possible to make sure i covered all the wards, corridors and out buildings each time finding new areas.
There were many highlights of the visits, visiting the mortuary with 2 entact morgue slabs, climbing to the roof of the water tower climbing through the service tunnels and finding the coal bunker.
Sadly all good things come to an end and Cane Hill is now no more.
