Box Freestone Mine

Visited September 2007 with Rookinella, Markr, Dark Prince and Sinnerman



This is my secound trip to Box, the first I got to see all the areas of interest, but unfortunatley did not take any pictures.

This trip was a much shorter trip catching only a few highlights, but this time i took some pictures.

Dark Prince was our guide for the afternoon, we entered via backdoor and headed straight for Cathedral.

We then headed in a northern direction to find the 'Tank'. This was a large stone water butt were water would collect and the quarrymen used the water in there carbide lamps.

Next we head up Cliftworks passage to see one of the original entrances, now gated and locked. We walk back past the 'Tank', still along Cliftworks Passage to see one of the surviving cranes.

This was the end of our trip and we head back to back door and to the Quarrymans Arms for a quick beer.
