Battersea Power Station
Visited with Rookinella. Met up with Downfallen and Syme Dec 07
Such an iconic landmark of London, Battersea Power Station is
a name
everyone has heard off.
Its four chimneys standing proud over West London.
Having driven past it so many times, only dreaming about what it could
be like to explore.

A date was set and me and Rookinella decided to do it.
As soon as we got on site we were busy taking pictures, desperate to
take as many as possible.
Were spotted by Downfallen and Syme who were already at the top of one
of the scaffold surrounding a chimney at the northern end.
So a quick phone call and we were on our way to meet them at the top.
We made our way round to the stairs should be only for security to be
on patrol and walk straight past us. Luckily they didnt spot us,
despite the dozens of security lights scattered around the inside of
the power station.
A quick search around and we couldnt find our way up.
So a quick call to get some info from OT and DK, and we were back on
track, but only for 5 minutes and as we still couldnt find our way up
through the maze of scaffolding and fences.

Thanks to Downfallen and Syme for coming down and finding us to take us
back up.
We visited control rooms A and B and climbed the high scaffold to get
stunning views over London, the wind was very strong, but stil manage
some decent pics, also despite my bad fear of heights i survived on the
scaffold, if was higher then i thought.
The control room were amazing. Still in perfect condition since the
closure and not seen by many, the huge dials and buttons had control
over the electric supply of most of london, with names of buidlings and
boroughs above each control.
The chimneys are now in a poor state, and although are grade 2 listed ,
its is likely they will need to be taken down and strengthened but have
to be rebuilt for any future development of the site.
And the control rooms have to remain.
Redeveolpment is the only way this beautiful will survive, or it wil be
another building lost forever.
